I attended a dear friends calling hours last night and stood outside in the cold for 20-30 minutes just to get in the door. We had to let several elderly couples jump the line so they weren't out in the cold. Upon entering the building we realized there was an entire room where they could have roped off rows to get everyone in from the cold. Today the funeral procession entered the expressway on Massillon Rd to go all the way to Fairlawn. There were NO police escorts except at the front of the processional. The lead car (I assume from the funeral home) entered the expressway going around 60 mph. Cars were trying to merge onto the expressway, it was complete chaos with everyone trying to keep up and eventually there was an accident because everyone slammed on their brakes because of cars coming onto the expressway! We got hit from behind and thankfully no one was hurt in this 4 car accident. I was told there was one other accident including people from the processional. We were able to keep going because we had little damage. We arrived in Fairlawn with a few more close calls and not ONE police officer to stop traffic at the intersection OR for the processional to turn left into the cemetery. Unfortunately in Ohio we don't have the same respect as those in the south so we had to wait just to turn into the cemetery. Shame on you Schermesser for this debacle! One would think after all this time you would have this down to a science.
