AVOID this daycare! I had two children that were both in Pre-k and under. The nice director/bookkeeper MaryJo was kind, however only there one day a week. The other director Lorie was barely there. Lorie at first seems nice and friendly but she is far from in situation that are not perfect. Ms. Jackie - the door greeter, shes condescending and conniving. On the first day of school Ms Jackie ripped open my kids lunches and said that there was NO peanut butter allowed and would not charge us for my sons lunch this time because we did not know it wasn't allowed. I understand there are allergies and have no problem with that originally I was told it is allowed and will be notified once he is placed in a class if any kid has allergies to it. Never notified. Than my daughter could not start because there was an missed fact of her birth date. She was a week shy of her 18 months and was not allowed to stay, Ms Jackie handle the situation very rude and aggressively. My children were there less than a month!!! And I had multiple issues. The before & after care - is supervision not care. I spoke with two different parents trying to get a feel for their experience at the school and was called by Lorie and told I was not allowed to ask parents certain questions or be negative. I explained I was not asking anything out of the norm or negative and whoever reported this (Ms Jackie) was not being accurate. I wanted to know what I said so wrong and received no explanation. When handling the situation as an adult in regards to Ms Jackie and the animosity that was between our family & her Lorie told me that no one had ever complained about her. She had bee there a long time and the kids and parents love her. My response was, do you any annual anonymous surveys for the parents to fill out on there experience with the school? Lorie relpied say No, we do not need that. Anywhere can improve. She also lied where she heard the information - I felt like I had to force the truth out of her. Another day I went to pick my kids up and .....Lori & Ms Patty meet me and wanted to talk about my son. While disciplining him for throwing puzzle pieces she dislocated his elbow aka Nursemaid elbow! On the incident report it showed I was contacted and that was false. Both woman said they were not evening going to write a report but my son would not use his arm after the "incident". You can not try to win against a kid because as an adult you will win, especially physically! Nothing resulted with social service because they could not prove intent. When I went to pick up my refund check she was still working there!!! Please I caution you to use another school!!!

  • These people that are posting negative reviews are just miserable people that will complain about and everything! My kids are 14,13,9, and 8. I have had kid at Akron First Academy for 11 years. I am very selective of where I send my children and who they are around, and I can tell you; the staff is wonderful! Ms. Jacki is amazing and everyone else can tell you that, both the parents and children. Mrs. Jarvis is so wonderful and kind, and does a great job as Administrator. I love AFAP and can't imagine my children being anywhere else.

  • I'm extremely surprised at the negative reviews for this school. Last year my daughter was in the 2's class and my son in Kindergarten with Mrs. Freeman. We used after care the whole year and I can say I was nothing short of impressed.

My children were happy, safe, and learning about God each day. I wish we could afford this year for them to attend, because I am not nearly as impressed with any other school. I enjoy all of the events they have throughout the year and the small class sizes. I loved the at the door pick up, which would be so helpful right now with my new baby.

The teachers are dedicated and a family like group. There were times I made complaints to Mrs. Jarvis and she listened to me and made sure I was comfortable with the resolution.

There were also programs for my kids to participate in- piano and ballet, which helped with their development.

And I suffer from a chronic illness which makes me not the easiest person to work with at times and I was so thankful for the compassion and understanding they showed to me.

Hands down this is where I would send all my kiddos if I could. I am glad to keep in touch with many of the staff and families.

This school is horrible. Not really a school, they are so money hungry that they let sick kids come to school and make other kids sick. Ms Jarvis is a horrible woman with no morals. She is rude and un concerned and the dope addict they have at the door doesn't know her left from her right. Avoid this school. Very un caring and un professional. They are lower than dog mess. Horrible people.
